Studies show 70-80% of women wear the wrong bra size. Learn how to tell if your bra fits correctly with our comprehensive fitting guide.
5-Point Fit Check
A well-fitting bra should pass all five checks.
Band Check
✅ Snug and level, parallel to floor. Two fingers fit underneath.
❌ Rides up, too loose, or digs in leaving red marks.
Cup Check
✅ Fully contains breasts with no spillage or gaping.
❌ Spillage over top, gaping/wrinkling, or armpit bulge.
Gore Check
✅ Center gore lies flat against sternum.
❌ Gore floats away from chest or presses painfully.
Strap Check
✅ Stay in place. Two fingers fit under without digging.
❌ Fall off shoulders or dig in painfully.
Underwire Check
✅ Sits in breast crease, encircling tissue.
❌ Sits on breast tissue, pokes, or digs.
The Scoop & Swoop Technique
Essential for proper fit. Do this every time you put on a bra.
Lean Forward
Bend at waist, let breasts fall into cups as you fasten.
Scoop
Reach into each cup and scoop tissue from sides and underarms.
Swoop
Stand up and swoop tissue upward so wire sits in breast crease.
Adjust
Adjust straps. Check gore lies flat and band is level.
Important: After scooping and swooping, many women discover they need a larger cup size! Proper positioning gives better shape, lift, and comfort.
Common Fit Problems & Solutions
Cause: Band is too loose.
Fix: Go down a band size, up a cup (e.g., 36C → 34D). Band should fit on loosest hook.
Cause: Often cups are too small (tissue pushes into band area).
Fix: First try larger cup. If cups fit well, then try larger band. Use extender for new bras.
Cause: Cups are too small.
Fix: Go up one or more cup sizes. Try full coverage style. Make sure to scoop and swoop.
Cause: Cups too big or wrong shape for your breasts.
Fix: Try smaller cup or different style (plunge, demi, balconette). Shallow breasts need shallower cups.
Cause: Straps too loose, sloped shoulders, or band too large.
Fix: Tighten straps. Try racerback or close-set straps. If band rides up, go down a band size.
Cause: Straps carrying too much weight because band is too loose.
Fix: Go down a band size (band should carry 80% of support). Try wider padded straps.
Cause: Cup too small (wire on tissue), wrong wire width, or worn out bra.
Fix: Try larger cup. Try different wire width. Replace old bras. Consider wireless styles.

Fix: Go up in cup size. Try plunge styles with lower/narrower gores.
